Free Gemini users lose the Flash and Pro models from 9 October

From 9 October, people using the Gemini app without a Google AI subscription will only get the Flash-Lite model, and lose Flash and Pro, according to an updated Google support page. AI Plus subscribers, at $4.99 a month, keep Flash-Lite and Flash but lose Pro. AI Pro, at $19.99 a month, gains the Deep Think option that was only on the $99.99 and $199.99 plans.

• If you or your staff use the free Gemini app for real work, such as drafting quotes or reading contracts, test the same jobs on Flash-Lite this week so you know what changes on 9 October.
• Before you upgrade, list the two or three jobs that really need the stronger model and compare the $19.99 Google AI Pro plan with what you already pay for other AI tools.
