AI has ended security through obscurity, experts say
Relying on attackers not knowing how your systems work no longer holds, The Register reports. AI agents now find bugs in old and obscure software, and Microsoft's record Patch Tuesday fixed 974 flaws, some in components nobody had talked about in years. Attackers also use AI to reverse-engineer fixes and build exploits within hours.
- Install updates as soon as they arrive, including on older office kit such as printers, routers and network storage.
- Switch off or replace old systems you no longer need, rather than assuming nobody will find them.
